United Women in Faith: Faith, Hope, & Love in Action

After a two-year break, Broadmeadow's UMW resumed regular monthly meetings in March 2022.

All interested women are welcome to join these meetings where we begin plans to show love not only to our church and neighborhood, but to the world as well. Meetings are usually held on the third Tuesday of every month at 11 a.m. Just bring your favorite sandwich or salad for lunch. Chips and tea will be provided.

We’d like even those who cannot attend meetings during the week, to please consider themselves beloved members and feel free to participate by sending suggestions for service opportunities or by joining us in projects.

This month, we are collecting canned: green beans, fruit, and hearty soups to donate to Stewpot Community Services, a local homeless ministry in Jackson. We will take coffee donations on an on-going basis to help prevent their monthly shortage of this item. Thank you for partnering with us!

UMW MISSION

Globally, United Methodist Women form a community whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.  From its beginning, United Methodist Women has focused on ministries with women, children, and youth.  Broadmeadow’s UMW seeks to live out this mission, purpose, and focus.

The name United Methodist Women was adopted in 1972, signaling a change not only in the life of the church but in the lives of women and how they could organize for mission. Over the past 50 years, we have experienced vast change in how women live their lives and choose to engage the world in faith as well as great changes in the life of the church. It is time to adopt a name that reflects how women are living and engaging their faith in today’s realities. Our new name is part of an overall move to refresh our organization that includes a new look, new feel and new and improved programs. We will be able to better nurture our current members while welcoming into our sisterhood new women who want to put their love in action. The new operating name is also welcoming to women whose local churches may choose to align with another denomination or who are already members of other denominations. We are still the only official women’s organization of The United Methodist Church and our corporate name will remain United Methodist Women.
